A recent choreographic trio, Majella Bess, Laja Field and Jessie Lee Thorne have been crafting physically illuminating worlds in which non-linear stories come to life through a dance-theater “choose your own adventure” lens. Majella has toured internationally and is currently the Choreographer and Rehearsal Director for DIAVOLO | Architecture in Motion. Laja will be an adjunct professor at NYU Tisch this Fall and with her artistic platform LajaMartin has toured to 17 countries worldwide. Jessie has spent most of her career touring internationally, creating work for theaters/galleries, choreographing for an array of musical artists, and directing award winning dance films.

“Decoated” is a dance theater piece that follows the intertwining lives of three best friends as they delve into the concept of donning alternative versions of themselves like clothing. Through the symbolic thread of jackets, the trio explores the fluidity of identity and sexuality, highlighting the struggle to find the perfect fit as they navigate ever-changing narratives and evolving selves. The piece beautifully portrays the interwoven nature of friendship, personal history, and the ever-shifting tapestry of who we are.
